La Santísima Trinidad with its red tiled roofs, cobbled streets, squares and staircases; El Laguito, the former villa of a sugar baron in Cubanacán; and the «Francisco Donatien» factory in Pinar del Rio, a building dating from 1868 that was a hospital, prison and probably also an art school. A stamp between city, manufactories and state gifts.
History
Trinidad is a „child of the revolution“: officially available since 1969, for a long time only in limited quantities and not freely available, used as a gift for foreign diplomats and politicians. The international launch did not come until 1997 with the Fundadores and a new blend; other formats followed from 2004, and later the Vigia.
The current logo of the Trinidad brand: „TTT“, also known as Triple-T
With its red-tiled roofs, cobbled streets, squares and stairways, the city of Trinidad is one of Cuba's greatest historical treasures.
Today, the three „T “s also adorn the cigar ring. In the past, the cigar rings were simply labelled with the name: Trinidad.
There have always been special cigars from the Trinidad brand for special occasions, here an anniversary humidor for the brand's 55th birthday in 2024.
The Trinidad story begins in the famous El Laguito factory.
The Cohiba manufactory El Laguito specialises in the production of long, slim formats, then as now, including the first Trinidad cigar, which has been produced since 1969.
A curse and/or a blessing? The Trinidad still stands in the shadow of its „big sister“ today, but is also known worldwide and delights its lovers.
Long and slim formats have gone a little out of fashion, but the Trinidad and Cohiba brands originally stood for them. This also applies to the first Trinidad with a length of 192 mm and a 38 ring gauge.

The official name of the Trinidad factory is „Fabrica de Tabacos Francisco Donatien“. This is also where the Vegueros brand cigars are made.
The building that now houses the Trinidad Manufactory in the centre of the city was originally a hospital and later a prison. For a short time, it is also said to have housed an art school.

The torcedores still master the production of long and slender formats such as the Trinidad Fumadores and enjoy them, as you can see here.
