Bolívar cigars are known for their intense flavours, rich tobacco blends, and a long tradition in Havana. They are still produced today in the Partagás factory. The connection to the history of Simón Bolívar, along with their distinctive strength, makes them one of the most prominent brands among Habanos.

History

The Bolívar brand was officially registered in 1921, although its origins date back to around 1900. After being acquired by the Cifuentes family, it developed into an internationally renowned cigar brand. Its production moved to the Partagás factory and continues to shape its reputation to this day.

Simón Bolívar, El Libertador, the liberator of South or Latin America. He is still present today through his depiction on cigar boxes.

The Bolívar brand was officially registered in 1921.

The Bolívar brand has a whole range of special editions, such as this 2016 Reserva; however, the Bolívar brand is also popular for Edición Regional releases, with over 30 of them so far.

The Bolívar Belicosos Finos, a pyramid with a 52 ring gauge and 140 mm length, is one of the brand's absolute classics.

The Bolívar brand is also often used for special editions for „La Casa del Habano“.

There have been several limited editions from the Bolívar brand, this one is from 2014.

The first headquarters of the Bolívar brand was located at Calle San Miguel No. 100. Por Larrañaga, Partagás and H. Upmann also had their first registered headquarters on this street. Over the years, there were more than 20 different cigar factories on this street, although usually smaller ones.

Probably in 1954, the Cifuentes family, who were then owners of the Partagás brand, bought the Bolívar brand. The factory was located directly behind the Capitol building at Calle Industria No. 520.

At the Partagás house, the Bolívar brand became truly successful. Bolívar cigars were produced at the factory on Calle Industria No. 520 until 2012.

Since 2012, Bolívar brand cigars have been produced at the Partagás factory at Calle San Carlos No. 816, where they are still manufactured today.

The current Partagás factory, where Bolívar cigars are also made, was originally a large tobacco warehouse.

The 5th Earl of Lonsdale, Hugh Cecil Lowther, had his own cigar created and memorialised his name with a format designation, namely Lonsdale.

Flor de Rafæel Gonzáles Marquez: this is the official name of the brand today.

From the beginning until a few years ago, this notice was found on every box: The cigars should either be smoked within a month or after a few years. This applies not only to Rafael González brand cigars.
