Juan López cigars are among the most traditional Habanos brands in Cuba. From the first factories on Calle Industria to today's Edición Regionales, the brand tells a story spanning over 150 years, closely linked to the development of the Cuban cigar industry.
History
Juan López Díaz began making cigars in the early 1870s, registering La Flor de Juan López in 1876. Following several changes of location and ownership, the brand continued to be produced after the revolution and remains part of the Habanos portfolio today.

The Juan López brand is known nowadays primarily for its many Regional Editions, mostly limited to 50,000 cigars in total and available in only one country worldwide.
The cigar band of the Juan López brand is based on the simple logo used today.
Alongside Selección No.1 and No.2, the Juan López Selección Especial has been newly added to the brand's range since 2020.
The Juan López Selección Especial is sold worldwide exclusively in „La Casa del Habano“ stores.
For the brand's 150th anniversary, which actually takes place in 2026, the range has been expanded with another cigar, the Juan López Selección Especial.
The lid of the cigar boxes for the Juan López brand still features the colourful logo.
Juan López Factories 1/4: The first Juan López cigars were produced from around 1870 (probably until around 1900) at Calle Industria No. 170 (the building on the far right of the image). To the left is the legendary Partagás factory.
Juan López Factories 1/4: The first cigars of the Juan López brand were produced from around 1870 at Calle Industria No.170 (the house in the middle). The house on the far left of the image is Industria No.172, one of the two buildings of the later Partagás factory, formerly Villar y Villar.
Factories of the Juan López brand 2/4: From around 1910, perhaps even a little earlier, cigars of the Juan López brand were produced at Calle Dragones No. 6 and 8, this may have been the house.
Manufactories of the Juan López brand 2/4: Under the name „Sucesores de Juan López“, the cigars were produced in a factory on Calle Dragones. The precise location of the former building is difficult to determine.
Juan López Factories 3/4: From the 1920s onwards, the Juan López brand was owned by the company „Cosme del Peso y Cia.“ The factory was located at Calle San Ignacio No. 314. Just a few steps away from the former cigar factory is Plaza Vieja, seen here at the corner of the square with Calle San Ignacio and Calle Brasil.
The Juan López 3/4 brand's factories: From around 1920 until probably the 1970s, Juan López brand cigars were manufactured at Calle San Ignacio No. 314, a building in Havana's Old Town. An ideal location in itself, but logistically not perfectly situated as a cigar factory for larger production volumes.
For many years, the former Juan López factory on Calle San Ignacio No. 314 was a building site. In the meantime, construction work has been halted and the building is not yet finished.
Juan López Brand Manufactories 4/4: The main headquarters of the Juan López brand is now located in San Antonio, in the province of Artemisa, south of Havana. How long specifically the cigars of the Juan López brand have been manufactured there is not known.
Juan López brand manufactories 4/4: The manufactory’s *galera*, where Fonseca and Sancho Panza cigars are also produced alongside Juan López cigars, is officially called „La Habana“ because the province of Artemisa was formerly called Habana and encompassed the entire area around the city of Havana.
